About Carnegie Kitchen
Each year, hundreds of pounds of food go to waste at college campuses and restaurants around the nation. Carnegie Kitchen aims to recycle unused food at Carnegie Mellon University and local restaurants, turn these donations into nourishing meals, and deliver those meals (along with a friendly visit) to those who need it most in the Pittsburgh community. As we make these meals, we use on-campus kitchen space to teach culinary skills to unemployed men and women in preparation to join the culinary arts.
We're are looking at places to open our kitchen, even beyond campus. We're looking for enthusiastic members who are passionate about food, and fighting hunger, unemployment, and food wastage all at the same time. Together, we can teach, feed, and empower the lives of many.
